Homosexual Divorces
An interesting look at an often uninvestigated byproduct of homosexual marriage-homosexual divorce. Yes, despite the overwhelmingly loving family gay households creat, sometimes-like in heterosexual marriages-the union [if I can call gay marriage by that term] does not work.
The Chant Not Heard
A great piece by Tom Friedman in today's NYTimes...instead of just Bush-bashing, how bout putting forth some ideas of your own? It's always easy to put down the other side; it's another to come up with a rival plan. Maybe someone else can come up with a 'better' plan and perhaps the 'neocon cabal' in the West Wing would be willing to include portions in their own plans.
Let's wait and see.

The Blessings of Having Just Enough
I usually think her "Editorial Observer" pieces are dumb...this one's interesting though. And thought provoking.
Where Thanks Are Due
A list of gadgets we should be thankful for. Weird.
The beginning of Krugman's op-ed in today's NYT:

I've heard it said that I should try, just once, to write something upbeat.

LOL! How 'bout intelligent? And not laced with acerbic and vitriolic partisan rhetoric?
Cartoon of naked Sharon devouring infant wins top U.K. prize
This is totally unacceptable. I refuse to believe that this distortion constitutes "freedom of speech." And the guy who created the comic won an award for it!?! Go figure...
Get Foreign Policy Back on Course
Warren Christopher's op-ed in today's WashPost about how the 9 Dem's running for the White House should deal with foreign policy, including his own suggestions on resolving the "alienation of our friends" (including a goodwill trip to Berlin, Paris, Seoul, and Ankara).
Space Food
A story about the making of the astronaut's Thanksgiving meal...and other foods.
Bush Pays a Surprise Visit to Baghdad
This article presents a mixed view of the trip...this was a definite election-minded move. But so what?

Saudis Under Scrutiny

It's so good to be back after a three week hiatus. I'll try to post at least once or twice a day for the next month-until I leave to Israel.

The transcript isn't up yet, but if you want a good laugh [and a whole bunch of examples of 'red herring' reasoning errors] check out Meet the Press in a few hours so that you can read Tim Russert's hysterical interview with Tom Daschle. It was truly one for the ages.

Also, according to the Wash Post,
the FBI, in an unprecedented move that has strained relations with a close ally in the war on terrorism, has subpoenaed records for dozens of bank accounts belonging to the Saudi Embassy, part of an investigation into whether any of the hundreds of millions of dollars Riyadh spends in the United States each year end up in the hands of Muslim extremists, U.S. and Saudi officials said.
The Saudis? Never! They're our parteners in the War on Terror, aren't they? After all, didn't you see the insert they paid for in the current issue of Foreign Affairs? What a shameless PR plug. As if people reading such a publication don't know the truth? I'm terribly confused as to why they spent so much money on that-glossy and colorful pages!-but it's their money, what do I care?

"Metrosexual"

What is it and why have there been articles debating whether or not Donald Rumsfeld and Howard Dean fit that category?

I apologize to readers who visit this site as a primary information source but I have been preoccupied with assignments including (but not limited to) debating the relevancy of the United Nations...I hope to be back soon and apologize for the inconvenience.

Wish me luck!
From Ha'aretz:
IDF forces uncover explosives belt under crib in home of Hamas activist in W. Bank village of Hizme near Jerusalem.
United States Secretary of Defense Donald H. Rumsfeld will be the most popular Bush administration official tomorrow morning. Here is some info in preparation for my second favorite television show of the week [MTP] as well as info on some other "Sunday Morning Talk Shows":

Meet the Press:
"U.S. SecDef. Donald Rumsfeld on Iraq violence and Saddam Hussein’s role and Sen. Zell Miller, D-GA, on his recent decision to support President George W. Bush for re-election and his new book, “A National Party No More.”"

Fox News Sunday:
"For an update on the war on terror, this weekend FOX News Sunday turns to Secretary of Defense Donald Rumsfeld."

Face the Nation:
"Topics:
Iraq, Presidential Politics

Guests:
-Rep. Richard Gephardt (D-Missouri)-Democratic Presidential Candidate
-Sen. Richard Lugar (R-Indiana)-Chairman, Senate Foreign Relations Committee
-Sen. Joseph Biden (D-Delaware)-Ranking Member, Senate Foreign Relations Committee
-Amy Walter-The Cook Political Report"

This Week:
"George Stephanopoulos talks to Secretary of Defense Donald Rumsfeld."
Just found this piece regarding Gen. Wesley Clark on Town Hall blog while doing research and felt I had to post it:

"...Congress later investigated the bombing and we found the reason that happened [the reason the Chinese Embassy in Serbia was bombed during non-UN-sanctioned NATO action] is because General Wesley Clark, the commander of NATO, was demanding targets: 'I need more targets. I'm running out of targets.'

"And under the pressure of those demands from that commanding general, the CIA came up with targets, and they came up with an old target with bad information, under the pressure from a commander who was anxious to keep bombing even though he had run out of legitimate targets."

hmmmm...would you say he got his faulty intel from the same source he claims our president got his prior to Gulf War II?
