Yesterday I posted about the (what's become an annual) mess in Lawrence, NY surrounding their school board election debate last week. Well, today the petition I posted and linked to was taken down because the original author neglected to post his/her full name, in violation of petitiononline.com's rules, which prohibit anonymous petitions. Perhaps the author will be wise enough to comply with the rules so that more people can sign the petition.

Michael, I'm not sure that the petition is really an effective tool. I think the ultimate petition will be on May 17th. The objective, IMO, should be to do anything we can to educate and inform the voters by then.

I thought that, perhaps, the author of the petition would be using it constructively so I posted the petition and link in full.
I received an email about it from a friend in Lawrence who is highly involved and connected politically and so, in my mind at least, the fact that he sent it to me gave it more credence.
A petition will be worthless if it doesn't effectuate a positive result at the actual vote. So, yes, the goal of this petition is (probably) merely to inform community members that this happened and that they should vote against him when the time comes. Still a noble cause and definitely worth signing for those who live in Lawrenece.
