I need help

I'm making lists of things I'll need to bring with me/buy for my new apartment.

But I still feel like my list is woefully incomplete.

Those of you with experience, could you please tell me what kinds of things might not be obvious "must haves" but are essential nonetheless?

Thanks in advance.

a coffee maker!!!

shower shoes (depending on how gross the shower is)

if you have space, groceries cuz they're really expensive in DC

all the lil toiletry stuff - qtips, rubbing alcohol, tylenol, band aids, toothpaste, etc.

an iron

Ummm, that's all I can think of now, but I'm sure there's a lot more, I'll keep thinking (as I pack for my dorm).

Elisheva,
Thanks so much for your help! There's so much stuff I'll need for the year and (since you blew my cover anyway) it's so far from NY so it's not like I can just go home on the weekend and pick up something I forgot. Going through your list:

Coffee maker: check (Though drinking is notoriously assur on the Metro so I'll have to drink it en route or at home)

Shower shoes: very thankfully not necessary :)

Groceries: to an extent but there's just so much you can bring, check

Toiletries: check (though anything missing from my list can easily be purchased down there)

Iron: I forgot that one and it's SOOO necessary especially when dry cleaning is so expensive and I can iron shirts myself.

Keep 'em comin! :)
