Maybe this is why Tevi Troy doesn't have a job in the White House yet.
White House Scaling Down Operations, Urging First Term Aides To Move On.
The New York Times (2/8, Kornblut, Bumiller) reports, “While drawing up an austere budget for the rest of the government, the Bush administration has been moving to scale down its own operations, paring positions in the West Wing and openly encouraging employees from the first term to consider moving on.” For example, “the Office of Cabinet Affairs, which has employed up to a dozen people to coordinate policy between the White House and administration agencies, has been reduced and is now run by one main administrator, according to Andrew H. Card Jr., the White House chief of staff.” The job “has been ‘redefined,’ essentially vanishing.” Card “said that particular case was more about reorganizing the West Wing than about shrinking operations, but he confirmed that downsizing was taking place.” Card, “describing his reshuffling efforts, said he began holding meetings with staff members in November to discuss plans and encourage people to use the election as a natural change of phase in their lives.”
