What???

Why did the Conference of Presidents of Major American Jewish Organizations issue a statement declaring their support of the disengagement today? Isn't this sorta like jumping on the bandwagon? Well, my friends, the wagon left the station a long long time ago. So what's the point? Is it so that they're on record as supporting the Israeli government-sponsored plan? I don't understand this at all. They issued a statement earlier in the year and hosted Sharon back in May. Was this really necessary? And if it was, why now and not a month ago?
